Ponderosa’s famous kitchen
Ponderosa’s famous kitchen creates up to three meals each day, for everyone who is here. All the meals are freshly cooked by our kitchen team, and served buffet-style in our common kitchen and bar area. We offer vegan / gluten free cuisine, with fresh, seasonal and mostly organic ingredients. We encourage projects and experiments in foraging, baking and preserving food. The menus are decided by the chef, which means that they vary a lot. Our cooks come from all over the world, and their cultural and culinary backgrounds inform and inspire what food is served. As much as possible, we try to make use of the food that we grow ourselves in the Ponderosa garden, and we endeavour to use all-organic ingredients. Where possible, we also use food produced by our neighbours in the village.
The kitchen is more then a place to eat: It is also the place to gather, talk, to perform and connect
The short version
1. Get to Berlin
2. Take a train from Berlin to Angermünde
3. Take a bus from Angermünde to Stolzenhagen
4. Walk from the bus station to the Speicher guest house
The long version
1. Get to Berlin
Get to Berlin. It’s in Germany.
2. Take a train from Berlin to Angermünde
In Berlin, you will need to go to one of the bigger train stations that are served by regional trains. The two stations that most people tend to use are Berlin-Gesundbrunnen, and Berlin-Hauptbahnhof. For more, check the Deutsche Bahn website , or the Deutsche Bahn app for iOS or for Android, or the BVG (Berlin public transport service) website, or their app for iOS or for Android. You can buy tickets from the machines on the station platforms. The machines accept coins, bank notes and bank cards, and they have menus in several languages.
Buy your ticket to Lunow- Stolzenhagen via Angermünde, so the bus drive to Stolzenhagen is already covered. Usually trains leave approximately once every hour. The RE3 train has a final destination of either Stralsund or Schwedt written on the departure boards. Train tickets cost €10,50 and the journey takes around an hour. Get out of the train at Angermünde.
3. Take a bus from Angermünde to Stolzenhagen
REGULAR BUS ON WEEKDAYS
At Angermünde train station, walk out the front door and get your bus. It leaves a couple of minutes after the train arrives, so don’t hang around. The buses have displays inside that list the next approaching stop, so you can see when to get out. Leave the bus either at Ortseingang or Wendestelle.
On weekdays, the bus runs at 9:04am, 12:50pm, 1:44pm, 3:35pm and 4:35pm, please double check here. On school holidays, it runs at 9:04, 11:35, and 4:35pm. Your train ticket is also valid to travel on this bus — as long as you followed the step above and got a ticket to Lunow, otherwise you have to pay 3 €,
Public buses do not run on the weekends. If you will be arriving on a weekend day, you must get a Rufbus.
RUFBUS ON WEEKENDS AND EVENINGS
A Rufbus is a taxi-van, which can be ordered in advance by phone. It is only possible to travel on a Rufbus on weekdays from 5:30pm to 9:30pm, and on weekends/ holidays from 8am to 9:30pm. On weekends, there is an extra charge of 1,20€. Tell them you need to get out at the Gut Stolzenhagen.
We recommend to call the day before you travel to reserve a place on a Rufbus. You can only order a Rufbus in German. They do not speak any English, or any other language. The website can be found here and the number to call is +49(0)3332-44-27-55. You have to order a Rufbus at least one hour before departure, better earlier as they might be booked out already.
When you call, the Rufbus phone staff will be able to tell you what options are available. Please be on time, even if you reserved is the bus not waiting.
4. Once you arrive
By public bus
If you arrived in the village of Stolzenhagen by public bus, you will be left at one of the two bus stops in the village, either in the village center (Wendestelle) or at the exit (Ortseingang). Take the road uphill to here, or until you get to a big pink-and-yellow sign saying ‘Gut Stolzenhagen’. Follow the path past the sign, we‘re the big house down at the end, a couple of minutes walk further on. Come to the Speicher!
By Rufbus
The Rufbus will leave you by the ‘Gut Stolzenhagen’ sign. Start walking, you’re almost there. Come to the Speicher!
By car
If you decide to drive to Ponderosa, please be aware that there are two villages that both have the name ‘Stolzenhagen’ in the vicinity of Berlin. Make sure to get the right one in any GPS or map. We are the tiny one 16248 Lunow-Stolzenhagen right by the border with Poland.
By bike
You can take your bike on the train, and do the cycle from Angermünde to Stolzenhagen. It’s around 15 km (9 miles), and takes around an hour, or maybe ninety minutes if you’re gazing at fields as you go. This is a nice route, avoiding the big traffic.
Alternatively, if you want to cycle from Berlin, it’s around 80 km (50 miles) to Ponderosa. Not a casual ride but we would applaud you for the effort, this is a pretty good bike route.
By taxi
You can also get a taxi from Angermünde to Stolzenhagen. The number to call is +49(0)333-12-4444, and it will cost around €20. Better reserve a cab in advance!
